Rummage Sale and Bazaar tentative april 21, 2012
The basic idea of a rummage sale expanded to include arts/crafts perhaps concessions / games – anything that will bring in money for the club.
With fewer donations than the club has enjoyed in the past years, it is up to us to raise funds to keep KCC up and running to offer programs for our youth and adults, and to continue the Hawaiian Traditions and culture surrounding canoe paddling.
Right now – we are looking for people with great ideas for booths along with people to take on organizing that particular booth/activity - anything that will bring in the funds and contribute to the family – community atmosphere.
Some of the ideas have included
· art/photography donated by members (or anyone who wants to donate!)
· Weaving, Tapa Prints and other crafts
· Donation and sale of old paddles – perhaps even painting or wood burning??
· Portugese Horseshoe Tournament
· Bake Sale
· Car Wash
· Coffe Mug Sales
· Kawaihae Logo Clothing Items
· Face Painting
· Canoe rides (Kim Kimi is checking with Manny to see if this might be possible, and will be in charge of it if it goes)
We will also need people to help with set up / clean up; cash box; price and organize rummage sale items; marketing; parking; and other tasks as we go along.
We need people to step up to take on a money-making booth or activity within the next week so we can begin marketing. The Willocks have graciously volunteered to head up the marketing – but we need to give them something to market!
Thank you all for your ideas and help – I know we have some amazing and talented members. Let’s make one big effort and focus on paddling!
PS – Due to the agreement of our lease for the property at Kawaihae, we are not able to rent spaces – booths to people wanting to market products for their own profits. Only items in trade for donations to KCC can be included.
